Über die Entstehung von Polarlichtern und Blogposts

Unglaublich faszinierendes Video über das Polarlicht, das am 17.3.2013 zu sehen war.

Warum  die Bilder wie eine Erdkugel aufgenommen wurden, erklären die Astrofotografen unter dem Video:

The marble like look is due to the circular fisheye that covers the entire 360 degree horizon. It’s the only way to capture the entire sky in a single exposure. With a rectilinear lens I would need to take several exposures and since the aurora moves so fast, that’s hard to do. I could do it with „flat“ lenses and several cameras, but the sky would then be distorted, since the sky actually is curved.
